South Boston, VA- Mrs. Erselle Elliott Cole, wife of James Edward Cole, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2019, at the age of 92. She was born in Granville County, NC on June 30, 1927, to the late Minnie Bray Elliott and the late Lee Elliott. James and Erselle were married on December 24, 1946. Erselle worked at Burlington Industries for 38 years and then with the U.S. Postal Service for an additional 14 years. She was a lifelong and devoted member at Black Walnut Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family, her friends and her church, and was said to have never met a stranger. In addition to her husband of 72 years, she is survived by daughters, Bonnie Lowery (Dean) and Patricia Myers (David); son, Dwayne Cole; grandchildren, Dana King (David), Bryant Lowery (Tracy), Dustin Lowery (Beth), Brad Myers (April), Lori Ashwell (Dave) and Brent Myers (Kassie); and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Ernestine Newton, MaryAnn Hughes, Herman Elliott and Bob Elliott. Erselle was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Edward Cole, Jr. and 5 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Black Walnut Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Raymond Wooten will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
