George Joseph Lutz

CLARKSVILLE , VA - George Joseph Lutz, age 73, died on Friday, January 29, 2016.He was born in Bay Shore Long Island, NY on May 23, 1942 to the late George and Anna Hodl Lutz.He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War; was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Church and was financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus, Blessed Trinity Council #11471. Mr. Lutz moved from Long Island, NY to Buffalo Junction in 1978.An electrician by trade, he retired from Halifax County Public School system after 23 years in the maintenance department, then devoted much of his time to his passion for model trains, coins and cross stitch. Mr. Lutz is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Denise Lutz, of Nashua, New Hampshire. He is survived as well by friend, James McAree of Buffalo Junction, VA. George was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Charles Paul Lutz. Visitation for friends and family will be 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, February 2 and 3, 2016 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA 23927. The funeral mass will be presided by Father Gerry Kaggwa at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 805 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA 23927 on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Following the services, Mr. Lutz will be transported to New York for interment at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 27 Handsome Avenue, Sayville, NY.
