James David "Jim" Fitts

SOUTH BOSTON Mr. James David “Jim” Fitts, Jr passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the age of 80.Born in Danville, VA on April 1, 1941 he was the son of the late James David Fitts, Sr. and the late Elna Ellis Fitts. Jim was married to Judith Dodd Fitts for 59 years. Jim, as everyone knew him, spent his whole working career with the Virginia State Police here in Halifax County and retired after 25 years of employment. He and his wife, Judith attended Dan River Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Judith he is survived by a daughter, Susan McQuade and husband Doug of Roanoke; son, David Fitts and wife Robin of South Boston; grandchildren, Jason Fitts, Luke Fitts, Macy McQuade and Trent McQuade. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Randy Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. Due to Covid continuing to appear in our community, face masks and social distancing are recommended.
