Jesse Robert Overstreet, Jr.

Jesse Robert Overstreet, Jr. 90, husband of Harriette Sutherlin Overstreet, passed away at his home on June 7, 2014. The son of the late Jesse Robert, Sr. and Grace Crenshaw Overstreet, Jesse was born May 14, 1924 in Halifax County. Serving his country as a Naval Pilot during World War II, he served in the Navy Reserve for 23 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. A graduate of the University Of Richmond Law School, Mr. Overstreet opened a private law practice in Clarksville. A member of Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church, memorial services will be held there at 2pm on Sunday, June 15th, with the Reverend John Bright officiating. A private interment will take place at Arbor Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Overstreet is survived by his daughter, Dr. Mary Marshall Overstreet of Exeter, Maine and son, Robert Sutherlin Overstreet of Clarksville. His sister, Hilda Daniel of Halifax and brothers, James Overstreet of Virginia Beach and Charles Overstreet of Dillwyn also survive. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Janice Montgomery, Lucille Daniel and Sarah Overstreet and brothers, Hunter and Billy Overstreet. The family will receive friends at the home at all times.
