John Blair "J.B." Kerns

Halifax, VA - Mr. John Blair "J.B." Kerns, III of Halifax, VA died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the age of 33. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on May 31, 1982 to John Blair Kerns, II and Cornelia "Nita" Womack Kerns. He was married to Kelly Ratliff Kerns. Mr. Kerns was a 2000 graduate of Halifax Co. Senior High School. He worked for White Construction from 1999 until 2010, and after that he worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Ratliff Kerns of Halifax, VA; parents, B. and Nita Kerns of Vernon Hill, VA; daughter, Abigail Kerns of Halifax, VA; step daughter, Kaitlyn Dockery of Halifax, VA; brother, M.V. Kerns of Vernon Hill, VA; maternal grandmother, Annie Womack of Vernon Hill, VA; and special aunts, Virginia Ann Womack of Vernon Hill, VA and Karen Needy of Chatham, VA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Randy Holmes and Doctor James Priest officiating. Burial will follow in the Womack family cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral home on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and at other times at the home, 1037 Crowder Trail, Halifax, VA.
