Karen Smith King

SOUTH BOSTON - Mrs. Karen Smith King passed away on December 16, 2016 at the age of 62.She was born in Halifax County on December 6, 1954to the late Raymond Major Smith and the late Aileene Puryear Murphy and was married toJohn Michael “Mike” King.She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Karen has operated Puryear’s Florist since 1992. The business was operated prior by her mother, Aileene, who operated it after her mother, Emily. Karen is survived by her husband, Mike King; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn King of South Boston; a son, Justin Michael King (Stacie) of Richmond, VA.; brothers, Ray Smith (Karen) of South Boston and Mark Smith (Sam) of McLean, VA; and a sister, Cynthia Camp (Jay) of South Boston. Funeral Services for Mrs. Karen King will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December, 18, 2016 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
