Lawrence Jennings Talbott, 87, died on Friday, December 9, 2016. He was born in Mecklenburg County, Va. on July 6, 1929 to the late William Watkins and Merry Yancey Talbott. Lawrence graduated from Clarksville High School in 1947 and served in the U. S. Air Force. He had a long career in the construction industry which included several companies: Talbott Marks, English Construction, Glenn Boyd, Moore Brothers, Nash Construction and Gray Walker and he finally retired as a Construction Superintendent. Mr. Talbott is survived by his loving wife, Lovine Talbott; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda T. (Mark) Hairston of Clarksville; sons and daughter-in-law, Russell J. (Donna) Talbott of Clarksville, and Dennis L. Talbott of Saxe; and five grandchildren, Justin Hairston, Ashley Hairston, Lt. Ryan (Miranda) Hairston, Lauren (Jon) Hill, and Kevin J. (Mary) Talbott; and five great-grandchildren, Mary Addison, Landon, Emma Hill, Wylder Hairston and Jade Talbott. Lawrence was pre-deceased by his son, Paul D. Talbott; and siblings, Alma T. Crowder, A. W. Talbott, Charlie Y. Talbott (ret. Col.), Lelia T. Yeates, Howard Talbott, Wallace Talbott, Clyde (Sam) Talbott, G. B. Talbott and Winnie West. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel, 703 Virginia Ave. in Clarksville, VA, with Reverend Joey Tucker and Reverend Jane Lyon officiating. Visitation for family and friends will precede the service on Sunday, Dec. 11 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home at 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lake Country SPCA, P.
