Linda Short Clark

Linda Short Clark, 74, of South Boston entered her heavenly home on Saturday, November 11, 2023, following a five month battle with cancer. Linda was born May 7, 1949, to Gilbert Wilson Short and Cecile Waller Short and grew up in the Millstone community. She was married to the late Charlie M. Clark, Sr. and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church. She had various occupations in her lifetime including hospital administration, grocery, and most recently as a caregiver for ill and elderly. Linda had many special interests including growing flowers and herbs, antiquing, collecting roosters and thimbles, and cooking for her family. She was a great seamstress, making children’s clothes and theater costumes.

Mrs. Clark is survived by four children, Charlie Clark, Jr. (Tracy) of Virgilina, Timothy Clark (Dawn) of South Boston, Karen C. Allen (Mike) of South Boston and Dale Clark of Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren, Amber Clark, David Clark, Benjamin Clark (Vanessa), Hannah Clark, Ashley Clark, Aaron Clark, Noah Clark, Kristin Barton (Billy) and Justin Allen (Amy); and six great grandchildren, Caleb, Mackenzie, Emma, Madison, Nathan and Carter. She also is survived by four brothers, Eugene, Philip, Wayne (Mary Jo) and Garnett (Carolyn); a sister, Betty; sisters-in-law, Shirley Taylor (Alan), Gracie Lorene Clark, and Eunice R. Clark; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ryland and Bobby.

Linda's family will meet with friends and loved ones at Visitation on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 6-8pm at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.  Her Graveside Funeral will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 2pm in Halifax Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dale Moore officiating.  Linda's family encourages anyone wishing to give memorials in her name, please consider Halifax County Cancer Association, P.O.
