Mary Elizabeth Daniel Chandler

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Daniel Chandler of 103 Rosehill Dr., South Boston, VA, formerly of 3059 Coleman Dr., Alton, VA died Monday, August 29, 2011 at the age of 81. She was born in South Boston, VA on December 5, 1929 to the late John Robert Daniel and the late Rowena Smith Daniel and was married to Charles P. Chandler. Mrs. Chandler was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church and was a retired supervisor for Tultex. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Charles P. Chandler of Alton, VA; one daughter, Judy C. Vicks and her husband, Eddie of South Boston, VA; one son, Michael Chandler and his wife, Wanda of South Boston, VA; one grandson, Greg Chandler; two granddaughters, Michelle Duffer Thurnes and her husband, James and Ashley Chandler; four great grandchildren, Taylor and Jalyn Chandler and Madison and Chandler Watkins; one sister, Shirley D. Hunt and her husband, Roy of South Boston, VA; one niece, Pat Dobson and her husband, Carlton and their children, Timothy and Rebecca; one nephew, Kevin Hunt and his wife, Carlene. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Bryan Wayne Duffer; and a great niece, Mary Beth Dobson. Funeral services will be held on, Thursday, September 1 at 3:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeaux Simmons and Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night, August 31, from 7 until 8:30 PM,at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Judy and Eddie Vicks, 8039 River Rd., South Boston, VA.
