Sylvia Franklin Capps, 81, widow of James Leroy Capps, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at The Carolina House in Durham.She was born in Durham on September 28, 1933 to the late John Bryant and Estelle McKee Franklin.A graduate of Oak Grove High School, Sylvia worked as a Dental Assistant with Dr’s. George F. Kirkland, Sr. and Jim Sconyers for many years.She was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was on the Bereavement and Kindergarten Committees and served as Chairperson on the Pulpit and Finance Committees.Mrs. Capps is survived by her daughter Candace Glass and her husband Michael, of Durham and son, James Leroy Capps, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Youngsville.Her grandchildren, AndreaTillman Baker and her husband, Dustin, of Raleigh, Bradley Scott Capps and his wife, Becky, of Youngsville, and Jeffrey Thomas Capps and his wife, Blair, of Lewisville, TX,great-grandchildren, Mayes, Reese, Cole, Eden, Emersyn and Ezra, and sister, Rebecca Tunstall of Durham, also survive.The Reverends Shane Smith and Joey Tucker will officiate the 11am service at Faith Baptist Church on Tuesday with interment following in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10am until 11 am in the Fellowship Hall at Faith Baptist Church and at other time at the residence of Candace & Michael Glass.Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wclfh.com.Flowers are acceptable or contributions made to Faith Baptist Church.The family would like to thank the staff of Carolina House of Durham and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their loving care of our dear Mom.
