Thulia Park Wildman, 93, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008. Born October 28, 1915 in Skipwith, she was the daughter of Moses Hay and Annie Norwood Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jordon Mason Wildman, who died on March 17, 1993. Surviving Mrs. Wildman are a daughter, Anne Carey of Austin, TX and sons Terry Wildman of Christiansburg, and James Wildman of Skipwith. Five grandchildren also survive her. Thulia Wildman will be remembered as a teacher, a mother and wife who provided so well for her family on a busy tobacco farm; and an active member and leader at New Hope Baptist Church. She received her professional teaching degree from Longwood College in 1935 and immediately began teaching grades 1-4 at Oakes School in Mecklenburg County. After her children were grown she also taught at the Chase City Private School. Throughout her life she was known for her unwavering generosity, service, and welcoming spirit. A memorial service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, Saturday December 6th at 11 AM.
