Warren David "Lightning" Saunders

SOUTH BOSTON - Mr. Warren David “Lightning” Saunders, Jr. of South Boston, husband of Ivy Wilson Saunders, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the age of 54. He was born in Roxboro, NC on April 2, 1965 the son of Linda Cole Saunders and the late Warren David Saunders, Sr. He loved his children and grandchildren and racing was his world. Mr. Saunders is survived by his wife; daughters, Donna Lynn Saunders, Shannon “Boo Boo” Saunders, and Deborah Saunders Wilmoth; grandchildren, Gypsy Rose Burke and Isaac James Saunders; sister, Amanda Faye Saunders; special friend, Jeff Bomar; and his racing family. The family would like to express a special thank you to Darren and Renee Hackett, Lynn and Stephanie Carrol, Cathy and Allen Rice, and all family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel officiated by Jim Foster - MRO Chaplain. The family requests that those attending the service please wear their racing attire.
