Warren Lewis Griffin, 54, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Duke Medical Center. The son of Rosa Howerton Griffin of Buffalo Junction and the late Robert Ralph Griffin, Jr., Warren is also survived by a devoted son, Thomas "Chigger" Hite and his wife Kathy and children, Tommy Lee and Hannah and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph. Warren was a graduate of Bluestone High School with the class of 1972 and of Smithdeal-Massey Business College in Richmond. He has been the owner/operator of Big Buffalo Hill for the past 10 years. Prior to that Warren had worked at Jones Restaurant and as an accountant for various companies; served as Vice-President of the Mecklenburg County Lifesaving & Rescue Squad and was the recipient of their President's Award for 2008. He was a member of the Twin Rivers Masonic Lodge; an avid horse breeder; and he loved his dogs. A faithful member of Buffalo Baptist Church, Warren loved his church and served in many roles including deacon; church pianist and organist for many years and pianist for the Buffalo Baptist Quartet. A Celebration of Life will be 2PM Sunday at Buffalo Baptist Church with the Reverends Chris Kiser, Jim McAlister, Jane Lyon and Dr. William Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
