William Alexander "Alex" Williamson

Mr. William Alexander "Alex" Williamson of 2182 Calvary Rd., Alton died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the age of 59. He was born in Halifax Co. on September 21, 1950 to the late Anita Jordan and William Washington Williamson and was married to Betty O'Brien Williamson. Mr. Williamson was a Chief Forest Tech for the Virginia Dept. of Forestry and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of Turbeville Vol. Fire Dept., an honorary member of South Boston Fire Co. and other fire departments. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 and VFW Post 8243. He was on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, an honorary member of the FFA, and a member of the Dept. of Forestry Honor Guard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amanda Grace Williamson of Roanoke; a son, John Alexander Williamson of Alton; sisters, Charlotte Propst and her late husband, Tommy and their daughter, Tracy, and Nancy E. Williamson; brothers, Fred Williamson and wife, Nancye and Byrdie Williamson and wife, Martha and their children, Adam and Lesley; sisters-in-law, Ann-Ashby McKissick and husband, Mark, and Tricia Murray and husband, Allen and their children, Matthew and Edmund; brother-in-law, Jim O'Brien and wife, Saree, and their children, Katie, Hunter, and Elizabeth and her husband, Kevin,and their children, Drew, Ellie, and Emmy. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the South Boston Fire Co. Support Center on Tuesday, March 16 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17 at 11:00 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
